Realizations

Realizations

What I’ve come to realize is this:
You inspire me,
With everything you have endured,
To become the person you are.
You have spread yourself like a wildfire,
And in the ashes that are left,
Beauty springs soon after.

What I’ve come to realize is this:
It is the little moments we share that mean so much.
The sideways glance,
The subtle touches;
I know not how to be separate from you.
You have opened me up,
And buried in your ashes, I blossomed.

What I’ve come to realize is this:
You are the stars;
And I have wished upon you for so long.
I have wished for you for so long.
I left my gaze looking up,
But I never knew I had to wade through the darkness,
Only to find a light that has shimmered so brightly.

What I’ve come to realize is this:
You fill my thoughts, my dreams, my memories.
You occupy my time, my hands, and my heart.
You let me dream, you let me dance, you let me sing.
We may wither, wilt, and burn to ashes.
But our beauty – our love – it is timeless.
It is something found only in storybooks and fairytales.

What I’ve come to realize is this:
For so long I have stood among the shorelines,
Far too terrified to swim in your sea.
Your wildness is alarming and disarming,
But whether I drown or not,
What I know is this:
I need you.
I want you.
I love you.
